ANTHONY WEINER ADMITS ONLINE RELATIONSHIPS WITH VARIOUS WOMEN

A spontaneous press conference was called for 4 p.m. at a New York City Sheraton where New York Congressman Anthony Weiner confessed to posting a lewd picture on his Twitter feed and carrying on inappropriate online relationships with half a dozen women.

In a tearful admission Monday afternoon, Anthony Weiner explained that he had lied regarding being “hacked” on Twitter, telling a crowd of hastily-gathered journalists at the hotel that he did indeed send the inappropriate photo from his Twitter account that launched the captivating “Weinergate” scandal.
Additional revealing photos surfaced Monday showing a shirtless Weiner, prompting the 46-year-old congressman to come clean. He said he engaged in numerous online conversations with at least six women across the nation, trading photos and lewd messages over Facebook and e-mail.

Weiner, a seven-term congressman from New York City, admitted full responsibility for what he's done while standing at the podium for more than half-an-hour, explaining the full range of his online actions with the women he's never met. He noted that some of the conversations took place as far back as three years ago, before he was married to wife Huma Abedin, an aide to Hillary Clinton. He claims, though, that his marriage is stable (“I still love her, and she loves me”) and also said that he will not resign as a result of the scandal. "I did not violate any law," he said, explaining that he's continued to uphold his responsibility to his Queens and Brooklyn constituents.

However, it was not Weiner, but conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart of BigGovernment.com who took the microphone first. Breitbart is credited with drawing attention to the original Twitter his photo when it was posted on his blog. After reporters noticed him at the event, Breitbart stepped to the stage and gave his own already widely publicized opinion, speaking for at least ten minutes about the scandal. Breitbart defended his decisions to post the photos, claiming that other news outlets had attacked him and maintained that he had been telling the truth the entire time.
